Tomoka State Park in February
Join us for three nights and four days of camping at Tomoka State Park, in Ormond Beach Florida. The dates are February 20, 21, 22nd, 2018.
There are many things to see and do in this area. You can relax in the park, ride bikes, rent a kayak or bring your own and wander through the marshes or drive over to the nearby beaches. You can either bike or drive the scenic loop through the waterways that surround this park. Bulow Plantation and Sugar Mill ruins are nearby. There are many historic homes in the area and Historic Trolley tours available. The Casements, the winter home of John D. Rockefeller where he died in 1937 fronts a splendid garden bordering the Halifax River. It is free to tour. Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens are across the street and these are two beautiful areas open to the public to tour. You may take a walk along the river front, over and under the bridge connected by beautiful parks and gardens on each side or visit the Daytona International Speedway and take a tour of the track. Lots to do in this area.
This park is unique in that we will have our own social hall, the Visitor Program Building right in the campground near site #12 which we have reserved for our dinners and games in the evenings. We will have a potluck dinner on Tuesday our first night; enjoy a catered dinner Wednesday and Pizza on Thursday. We will enjoy campfires in the evening for roasting marshmallows, hot dogs and enjoying meeting new friends.
Participants must make their own camping reservations for Tomoka State Park – www.ReserveAmerica.com or 800-326-3521. Your hosts have reserved Site Nos 88 & 83 in the Campground. Weather permitting we will have a campfire each evening. Please bring your hotdogs, marshmallows and roasting sticks. Make your reservation early as winter visitors fill this park early. Try to reserve sites as close to the hosts as possible, in the area of the 80's and 70's. It is a short walk thru to the Visitor Program Bldg.
There is no formal registration or fee for the rally. We will collect a nominal Rally Fee per person upon arrival to cover the rental of the building and dinner and pizza. It is suggested that participants e-mail or call and leave your name and contact information with us just in case there is a last minute change of rally plans. Please confirm that you reserved a site and send your site # to Betty & Jim, via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone Betty at (386) 451-2477 if you need assistance.
